MP3s 7 Wheels Tracks I have been busy working on tracks of my own for the first time in a long time, under the name of 7 Wheels and have been putting them on my page on Myspace, where feedback has been very positive. Having found a format which not only pleases me but seems to get some interest, I have finished my first album, Scattered Stars, and am working towards an album. I have tracks available on Beats Digital. You can also buy them through Soundclick. Samples For DownloadEthnic Instruments I recorded the playing of percussionist Mick Tickner of Newport. Here are a set of tabla rhythms, incorporating straight and double time feels. Files are stereo 16-bit WAV files zipped for a slightly faster download. Kahereva and Tintal are traditional rhythms, Kayda are improvised. If you want to audition them first, try the short MP3 excerpts
Tony's D110 Sounds Set The following samples were almost all created by myself by synth editing on a venerable Roland D110 synth module, to give a different slant on the usual synthetic drum sound, followed by recording into BIAS Peak and editing there. Others are created by taking basic module sounds and applying various processing tricks, such as Ring Modulation or blending 2 waveforms together. There are a very small number of lifts of individual hits from a couple of albums. The percussion hits are quite different from the average sample percussion, without being too wacky to use! All files are in WAV format.
. The Original D110 ROM Drum sounds Get into that late 80s vibe! Dig those hard synthy kicks and snares, with some quite brash hihats. I have a fondness for the congas which have quite a grainy, woody sound to them.
Korg X5/05RW Drum sounds
These are a good range, clean, crisp and all pretty useable in the right context. There are some things which are not necessarily easy to source elsewhere, such as Bell Trees.
Samples With Sampler Instruments This is a small collection of sampler instruments made by myself originally for use in Logic with the EXS24 sampler. I also use CDXtract for conversions of sampler instruments from other platforms and thought I would make the sounds available to more people. There are versions for EXS24, Halion, NNXT and Kontakt together in one zipped folder, as they can use the same multisamples with their own sampler program or instrument file. There are versions for Akai S5000/6000 users, with samples and and an *.akp program file, zipped. There are versions for Gigastudio users, which come out as one *.gig file, zipped. I decided I might as well create some Soundfonts at the same time, which come out as *.sf2 files, zipped. Live instruments: Hits from a Dholak hand drum, with some velocity switching of samples for bends which I am quite pleased with; Hits from an African Bell (Agogo-like) with some velocity switching; A set of 6 different looped Dijeridu drones, played by Mick Tickner. Sampled 80s synth sounds:. Yamaha DX27 Marimba; Kawai K1. Here are 2 percussive sounds - Dokari and Jakaah. I have hundreds of clav patches for various synths, but the K1 Fuzz Clav is one of my all-time favourites. Both DX and K1 sounds, unadorned by effects and with no filters in the synth engine, can cut through a mix quite nicely and be very useful in their place. Proteus 2000 Congas These were sounds I thought I might miss when I sold the Proteus 2000, so I saved a set at 3 different velocities.
Drum Breaks This is an initial batch of 20 some drum rhythms, in varying feels.ranging in length from 4 to 16 bars, in stereo *.WAV format, zipped for quicker down load and now in Apple Loop format too, which can be used at different tempos in Logic or GarageBand. There is a full MP3 of each to give you an idea of the feel.
Synth Sounds And MIDI Files For Download I recently did a whole track (Funky Stripes) based around the free Zebra CM soft synth from Urs Heckmann of u-he software. My thanks to him for such an impressive product and to Computer Music magazine for providing it on their cover disc. I made some new sounds for the track and would like to share them. Here is a stuffed file in Mac OSX Audio Units*.aupreset format. Sorry I haven't found a way to transfer them to VST preset format yet! Here are some of my own sounds for various modules and keyboards, plus some General MIDI pattern drum files in Standard MIDI File format. Here are the drum files, which go all the way back to about 1995 MIDIFile Drum Beats by Tony.zip Below is a SoundDiver library of 93 sounds for that 80s workhorse the Roland D110, also useable for the D5, D10 and D20 keyboards. They include some fat basses, standard drum kit sounds and some useful synthetic percussion noises. Below is a SoundDiver library of 188 Programs for the Korg X5/05RW/X5D series, covering a wide variety of sound types. All are optimised for multitimbral use. Dating from 1996, below is a complete bank of X5 sounds in *.MID format, with a demo song in *.MID format to show their use, including a new drumkit layout with some MIDI drum files and a Cubase Drum Map. In 2005 I bought an Emu Proteus 2000 to replace a failed Roland JV1010 which had become a bit of a workhorse for me. As there are nowhere near the same number of patches available online for the Proteus 2000 (I had a JV1010 library in Soundiver of 5000 patches, including my own!) I programmed a few sounds. These are available here in zipped MIDI File format. Feedback welcome! I sold the Proteus 2000 in 2006, having gone completely over to virtual instruments, but find myself missing some of the sounds occasionally...

Please visit a site dedicated to Asa Singleton, a friend's grandson who is suffering from Neurofibromatosis 2, a rare and serious condition. The community here on the Isle of Wight have really got involved in raising money for his treatment, with bands playing benefit gigs (including Virgin signings the Bees and synth legend Rick Wakeman), artists donating pictures for auction, and all kinds of people doing all kinds of silly stunts to raise money to send Asa to Los Angeles for specialist surgery.
